Woo! Another Smoothie Recipe!

Beauty smoothie detox with collagen peptides

Can I get a whoop whoop? It’s y’all’s favorite kind of blog post: quick, simple, and mega effective smoothie recipe.

It’s no surprise why people love smoothies so much. They taste AMAZING and they’re (usually) loaded with all the good stuff you could never eat by itself. Lol.

That’s why I’m sharing this one. It’ll be one that you keep going back to over and over again and if eaten on a regular basis should make a noticeable improvement in your skin, hair, and nails!

“What’s in it?” You might ask…

Let me just go ahead and tell you. These ingredients are ones that have changed so much for me. They have helped level out my gut, made my hair shinier, kept my skin clear, and soothed inflamed aching joints.

Collagen Peptides

Collagen peptides are the protein that ensures the regeneration and cohesion of all connective tissue occurs. That means it’s vital for healthy skin, tendons, cartilage, bones, and joints. When we’re young, our bodies are producing lots of collagen hence youthful appearances and the ability to bounce back from injury or hard workouts. As we get older, our bodies begin to produce less and less.

For some people, like myself, I began to have pain in my knee joints when I started college. It persisted and steadily got worse. I heard about collagen peptides from Jeanette Ogden a few years later and haven’t stopped taking them since. The pain has gone from almost every day to rarely. It has increased my athletic performance and made me able to push harder in my workouts.

A few months after supplementing every day I began to notice my hair was thicker and stronger. My seemingly permanent cowlicks began to grow longer and my nails were uncontrollable. I had to start cutting them every week or else I would go crazy. My skin, too, was different. It seemed to have more luster. I was still getting hormonal breakouts (from not realizing sugar was the culprit) on my chin but the amount had significantly decreased.

Spirulina

Spirulina is an algae that is packed full of nutrients like chlorophyll, Vitamin B1, B2, & B3, Copper, Iron, and a smaller amount of every single other nutrient we need to survive. How crazy is that? Can you say superfood?!

It is a super powerful supplement, so I suggest researching it (start here) because it’s that cool. Skin wise, because of the antioxidants it rids the body of toxins, which makes the skin brighter. It also increases the skin’s ability for cell turnover, resulting in newer skin more often. This also helps rid the skin of acne-causing bacteria from sitting stagnant beneath the surface.

You do want to make sure you have a good quality spirulina. There are some that have been processed more (it makes the production cheaper) and it dampens the potency. I suggest using this one.

Coconut Meat

Mmm coconut meat. This will make your smoothie super THICK and add lots of healthy fats. I suggest getting Trader Joe’s frozen coconut meat chunks. Way easier than harvesting coconut meat yourself! Coconut meat is packed with vitamins that promote elasticity in the skin.

Avocado

Have you noticed the amount of healthy fats I’m shoving into this smoothie? Good! Healthy fats support the skin and keep it from drying out.

Making this smoothie after having my ACV Detox water every morning is a great way to set an intentional mood for the rest of the day. It makes me listen and pay more attention to my body and what it needs. It makes me feel more motivated to make healthier decisions and to sew into good habits.

So, I encourage you to find one thing to implement into your morning routine that starts your day off on the right track. It could be this smoothie, some detox water, stretching, or meditation. Just take another step into a more intentional and intuitive lifestyle, you won’t regret it Sista!

Ingredients

1/2 an Avocado

Handful of spinach

1 Tsp of Spirulina Powder

1 scoop of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides

1 cup of coconut meat

1 frozen banana (in pieces)

2 dates (pitted and cut into pieces)

2 cups of Coconut water

Stick all of the ingredients in your blender and voila! I’m so excited to hear what y’all think about this recipe. It can taste a little earthy because of the spirulina powder but adding the dates and bananas should help quite a bit.

It has been six months since I starting blogging. Can you believe it?! Me either. To celebrate I’m hosting a giveaway over on my Instagram! I’ll be giving away some of my all-time favorite beauty/wellness products. These are tools I use every single day.
